Our Truth

I’m on a plane heading to upstate New York as I’m writing this. There is something about planes and writing for me. It happens in coffee shops too. I get incredibly inspired. I think it’s the other amazing humans, strangers, around me. Human Design speaks of this… 

Anyway, I thought I would write my thoughts as they are coming in. I’m thinking about the religious war taking place in the middle east right now and the absolute devastation…all in the name of god and land that is claimed. Of course the conflict goes much deeper than the religious aspect alone, but the entire situation is giving me more courage to speak my truth in regard to god, my beliefs, human rights, and many more things.

First let me share my fears with you so that you can more fully understand my heart and why it has taken me many, many years to speak up:

While I will certainly confront issues, conflict is incredibly difficult for me. I desire for everyone to view me as loving, kind, thoughtful, and any other attachment that appears “good, right, and perfect”. And while that desire within itself has much shadow work to be continued within me, we won’t dive into that on this particular day.

Know this, at 45 I’ve learned that when you speak your truth, there will be people that don’t get it; they’re not meant to. Our existence here in this life is to experience as much duality as we can. Our beginning and ending in this life is bathed in duality. Life and Death…or Death and Life however you view it…is there anything more dualistic than this?

Because this is our experience, and we are meant to observe and feel it fully, we must have our fellow humans to present to us resistance, difference, and opposition. It’s the only way we can truly take in an experience. I will receive resistance as I speak up.  My beliefs are not the most traveled path that’s for sure.

I’m ready to learn from it…from you. When it hurts as people, some respectful, some disrespectful, share different views, question my own, and possibly judge me…I remind myself, “your fellow humans, miquell, are only reflecting more inner work for you to do…what are they teaching you right now about yourself?” The moment I make the conflict, resistance, or opposing view about me and my expansion process…I grow exponentially in my beliefs, emotional intelligence, and capacity for conflict.

Over the coming weeks and months, I will be sharing my truths. I invite you, as you take the time to dive into my thoughts and beliefs, to allow the observation of self to take precedent. I am a mirror to you as you are to me. Here are some questions you can ask yourself, as I have myself over these last few years: 

•  I want to clap back right now…why?
•  What was said…why does this make me feel so (insert emotion)?
•  sit with this one for awhile if you don’t immediately get an answer
•  If what they are saying is true, what does this mean for me?
•  What they are saying is not true! I believe (insert belief) because (insert reason).
•  follow this by taking a deep dive into the reason you gave.
•  how well does my truth/belief hold up?
•  is my truth/belief based in fact or faith?
•  is my reaction based in fear or passion?

I’m going to wrap this writing up with some practice and implementation for all of us.

Here is one belief I hold…the westernized church, as most of us know it, is a man-made system that operates just like every other system we subject ourselves to as humans. Principally speaking, I find little differences from the church compared to our government, financial, medical, and educational institutions. These systems operate and find success by disconnecting you from your own personal truth and inner compass by bathing you in fear.

Sit with it…and I will too.
